Dr. Holder graduated with honors from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine
in 2002. While there, she received the Lerner Family Wildlife Conservation Award, the Bird
Fanciers Scholarship and was inducted into Phi Zeta, the veterinary school honor society. Her
work with cheetahs and early renal disease detection won an international award and was
published in the Journal of Zoo and Wildlife Medicine.
In 2004, Dr. Holder opened her integrative hospital in Central Florida and began her journey in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. She is certified in Veterinary Acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine, Traditional Chinese Food Therapy, Chinese Tui-Na, Animal Ozone Therapy, and Animal Reiki. Her veterinary hospital cared for cats, dogs, birds, exotics and wildlife. Dr. Holder was featured on National Geographic Wild: Unlikely Animal Friends debut series.
In 2022, Dr. Holder sold her hospital to recuperate from compassion fatigue. It remains one of the largest integrative veterinary hospitals in North America. While working on self-healing, she began an exploration of compassion fatigue, why it happens and what can be done about it. She completed certifications in meditation instruction as well as compassion fatigue training for healthcare professionals. Dr. Holder brings unique and personal expertise to her community combining work with mantra meditation, breathing techniques, trauma healing strategies and so much more in an effort to provide concrete tools to combat compassion fatigue and burnout. What started as a need to heal herself became a mission to help those in the animal care world so they may continue to heal animals.
“Having suffered from compassion fatigue and watching the chaos that surrounds our
magnificent profession, my hope is to be part of the solution and give a voice to the
overwhelming exhaustion in our community.”
